The Microsoft Power Platform Solutions Architect’s Handbook
Two editions of the standard reference for Power Platform solution architects, published by Packt: a practical guide to architecting solutions for the enterprise, written from the field rather than the slide deck.
Available from Amazon, Packt and other major book retailers. Used by Microsoft consultancies and enterprise teams as a working reference and for PL-600 certification preparation.

Second edition — 2025
The current edition, updated for the AI era
The 2025 second edition is a substantial rewrite. It covers the design patterns, application lifecycle management, integration approaches and governance that an enterprise Power Platform solution needs, and how Power Platform sits alongside Azure and Dynamics 365 rather than in isolation.
This edition adds new material on Copilot, Power Pages and the latest Dataverse and ALM capabilities, with the architecture decisions framed the way they come up on a real programme: constraints first, trade-offs stated.
First edition — 2022
The original, and still a working playbook
The 2022 first edition established the structure that the second edition builds on. It remains widely used by Microsoft consultancies and enterprise teams, both as preparation for the PL-600 solution architect certification and as a practical reference on live programmes.
If you are choosing between the two, the second edition is the place to start. The first edition is still worth having where teams want the original framing or are working against the earlier exam syllabus.

Who it is for
Written for the people doing the work
Aspiring architects
A structured path from consultant to solution architect, and a companion for PL-600 preparation.
Practising consultants
A reference for the decisions that come up mid-programme: ALM, integration, governance and data design.
Enterprise teams
A shared vocabulary for in-house teams reviewing or governing Power Platform delivery at scale.
Want the thinking applied to your programme?
The books set out the patterns. If you would like them applied directly to your Power Platform, Dynamics 365 or agentic AI work, that is what the engagements are for.
